Puyallup Performing Arts Academy Staff

Becky L. Cain, M.Ed.  Miss Becky teaches K-3rd grade at Puyallup Performing Arts Academy, in addition to providing oversight and direction to the entire program. Becky began BLC Creatives, Inc. in the form of Puyallup Children’s Theater & Music Academy in the Fall of 2010. What began as a two-year writing project in a 1200-foot storefront, has grown, in 10 years, into seven different enterprises, occupying 4500 square feet in a historic building in downtown Puyallup, Washington.
With a background in music, theater and education – and with a real passion for the amazing power of music as a tool for education – Becky saw the need for top quality theater education and performance opportunities for children and youth  in the Puyallup area. Currently, Puyallup Children’s Theater has grown into a premier music and theater training facility and performance venue for students, ages, 3-18, that currently produces 60 production annually and has seen alumni go on to be cast in both semi-professional and professional theater in the Seattle area, as well as enter university programs in both theater and music.
The addition of Puyallup Performing Arts Academy, added to Becky’s vision of keeping music as the “trunk” of the education tree. By using music in all its forms (visual, aural and kinesthetic), students are effectively taught all the core curricular areas (reading/language arts, math, science, social studies) with very high retention rates. Students also build self-confidence and team-building skills.
Becky also heads up Puyallup Creative Arts Summer Sessions. Puyallup Creative Arts Summer Sessions and Summer Sessions Jr.  are 10 weeks of a fun, arts and activity-filled, full day, day camp program for students ages 3 -13. Featuring all areas of the Creative Arts, through exploration of  varied arts media that follow a different fun theme each week, and  expanding overall skills, knowledge personal expresion in the arts as a whole.
Finally, Let’s Teach Music Publishing offers the books and materials that Becky has written for the above programs, plus tips and guidance on being a teacher in the arts.
